Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to Surgeon-Major David Bruce, Ubombo, Zululand |
Date | 12 July 1897 |
Description | Sends a report of more pathological work by Kanthack and the others [not attached]. It is interesting in many respects but offers no suggestions as to remedies.
Foster has written to Chamberlain telling him this and saying that in the Society's opinion what is now wanted is an inquiry on the spot based on new knowledge of the natural history of the fly. The Society have also told Kanthack that they think all the money promised should be spent on Bruce to enable him to prosecute these inquiries on the spot. Encloses eight suggestions which have occurred to the Committee [page 123]. The Society have also told Chamberlain that they do not think it advisable to send anyone out at present, that the inquiry may be left in Bruce's hands, but should Bruce wish for anyone to be sent, the Society would do its best to find a good man.
Kanthack and others will continue to work at the pathological questions at home, and as Bruce will see from Kanthack's report, much yet remains to be done. They hope Bruce will be successful and if he requires any literature or information they will be happy to provide it. |
