TitleCopy letter from Theodore E James, to Dr William James Russell, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date14 August 1897
DescriptionEveryone is away except for the Clerk so James replies to Russell's letter. The Society has no bequest form but gifts of the nature named are brought before the Council and special thanks given. Sometimes the Treasurer [John Evans] writes to express the desire of the Society to possess and hand down relics of interest. The Society already has a double elephant size green morocco album containing portrait-engravings of Priestly, and of events connected with his life and troubles, together with some of his letters pasted in. Two or three years ago the Society was given an arm chair of Sir Isaac Newton's. Such gifts would now also be noted in the Year Book.
