TitleCopy letter from A H White, to Lord Rayleigh [John William Strutt]
Date18 August 1897
DescriptionAsks for Rayleigh's instruction. They have received from Dr Sherrington a heavy 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' paper which Sherrington has had since 10 February to carry out the suggestions of a referee. Professor [Edward Albert Sharpey-]Schafer is away and Dr Lauder Brunton, his deputy, is also away. The modifications made by the author as suggested, are noted by the author on the enclosed leaf [not attached].

If Rayleigh can authorise him to go on with the text, he wonders if he could also later on pass estimates for the illustrations. There are three plates, which would cost probably £5 each, though he questions whether these could be done without getting the original negatives from the author.

There are also a large number of figures for cuts in the text, about £10 worth. For both these he would obtain definite estimates.
