TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Osbert Salvin, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date4 November 1897
DescriptionThe Council definitely decided today not to sanction the grant to the expedition to Socotra. It was thought desirable that such schemes should be fully considered by a body of experts such as a Special Board of the Government Grant Committee. The matter must therefore be brought before the Committee next year in the usual way. Hopes this decision will meet with Salvin's approval, especially as the proposed expedition would have started later than was desirable.
