DescriptionThe Committee considering Brodie and Richardson's paper, 'The Phenomena and Causation of Heat-Contraction of Skeletal Muscle' consider that the paper requires certain modifications before publication.

They think the paper would be greatly improved if it were revised with a view to condensation. The experiments ought to be stated so as to enable the reader to judge of the quantitative relations between time and temperature and resulting change of length of the muscle observed. This could easily be accomplished by stating in relation to each experiment on which any conclusion if founded; the conditions under which it is made, and the relations above referred to in tabular form. If this were done it would be sufficient to reproduce a very few tracings as examples of the method employed. A proper diagram should also be given of the apparatus.

The Committee has asked Foster to ask the authors to select not more than ten of the photographs and to revise the paper along the lines indicated. For this purpose Foster returns the paper herewith [not attached].
