TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Robert Henry Scott, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date20 November 1897
DescriptionHas been in correspondence with the Director of the Central Physical Observatory at Pavlovsk regarding some letters of the late Professor A T Kupffer, the founder and first director of that Observatory, of which Mr Rykatcheff is writing the history. Has been able to find and send copies of some letters but is unable to find one by Kupffer to then Major Sabine, dated 30 April 1840, relating to the establishment of magnetic observatories in Russia and Peking. Harrison learns Scott was executor to the late Sir Edward Sabine, and thus he may have the opportunity of tracing this letter. If so Rykatcheff would be grateful for a copy of the letter.
