DescriptionDr [Michael] Foster asked Harrison to let Kempe have a copy of the resolution passed by Council regarding the Sir William Mackinnon bequest and such documents as will allow Kempe to form an opinion on the subject. Sends this and an extract from the will concerning the Royal Society. Has a full copy of the will and asks Kempe to call and view this and notify him if he can do this.

Copy Council resolution states the Council resolve to obtain advice as to the legal responsibilities incurred under the Mackinnon bequest. In the summary of Mackinnon's will it is noted that the residue of his estate it to go to the Royal Society and be held in trust for the foundation and endowment of such prizes or scholarships for the special purpose of furthering science, including geology and astronomy, and named after Mackinnon.
