TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Professor Alexander Onufrievitch Kowalevsky [Kowalewski], Foreign Member Royal Society
Date20 December 1897
DescriptionThanks Kowalewski for his letter of the 2 December and expresses the satisfaction with which the Society has learned of the steps that are being taken by the Imperial Academy of Sciences at St Petersburg in furtherance of the scheme for an International Catalogue of Scientific Literature.

The information on this subject contained in Kowalewski's letter is in itself regarded by the International Catalogue Committee as, in part at least, a fulfillment of article 31 of the International Conference, and with regards to the elaboration of further details, Rucker is able to inform Kowalewski that the Royal Society has made considerable progress in the formulation of a scheme as directed by the Conference, and hopes very shortly to be able to issue such a scheme to all the countries participating in the Catalogue, for consideration by their Government. Suggests that the details of the organization to be adopted in Russia will be more advantageously discussed when the scheme, which should be circulated early in 1898, is laid before Kowalewski.
