TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker to Lord Kelvin [William Thomson]
Date17 January 1898
DescriptionRucker explains that the paper given in the list on pp. 154-155 of 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' No. 381 were taken as read at the first meeting of the [Royal] Society after the long vacation. No abstract of Mr Murray's paper was produced because the Committee of Papers had requested Murray to reduce the whole paper to a length suitable for inclusion in the Proceedings and Murray refused.

Harrison hopes that Kelvin understands that the Royal Society has not refused to publishe Murray's. He suggests that Kelvin persuades Murray to send in a shortened version of the paper and then an amplified version could later be included in the Phil. Mag. [Philosophical Magazine].
