Date2 April 1898
DescriptionAgrees that the formal thanks had better come from the Committee. Will work with Rucker and ensure that it is clear that what was done at the Royal Society on 31 [March] was not a formal report to the Society but a Preliminary Statement for the advantage of the Fellows. Must not let there be a repetition of anything like Turner's conduct on the 31st. The Royal Society does not wish to take anything away from the [Royal Astronomical Society] but it is and always has been the head in such a business as the eclipse.
