TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor G H Darwin, Fellow of the Royal Society (Chairman of the Mathematical Committee)
Date22 June 1898
DescriptionIn reply to Darwin's postcard, the business for the Mathematical Commiee is as follows:

The papers by Hicks and Whittaker are ready for voting upon. Darwin has seen Hicks' paper but not Whittaker's. Can recommend the papers to Council for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' without waiting for a meeting of his committee.

There is also a paper by Professor Karl Pearson, 'Mathematical contriutions to the theory of evolution. V. On the Reconstruction of the Stature of Prehistoric Races' which has already been considered by the Zoological Committee who have appointed two referees. As the subject is also mathematical, the paper should be reported on by mathematical referees too.

Also received a paper from Mr W. Steadman Aldis, 'Tables for the solution of the equation [see original paper for equation]' (communicated by Prof. J J Thomson). Has been accepted for consideration by the Secretary but now awaits a decision as to printing and hopes to have Darwin's view.
