Date19 October 1898
DescriptionSends half a dozen of the acta of the International Conference on a Catalogue of Scientific Literature [not enclosed]. Each of the delegates is to make arrangements in their own county for the establishment of committees to discusses the scheme already proposed, and to send in their reports to the Royal Society within six months. These reports will be considered by the International Committee which is to prepare the final scheme within nine moths.

Two vacant places were reserved on the International Committee for Russia and Italy. Shortly the Foreign Office will request the Russian Government to nominate a member to the Committee. Asks that Rykatcheff does what he can to interest the Russian Government and Academy in the matter.

Also sends copies of the report of the Royal Society which was considered at the conference [not enclosed] and upon which they wish revision by members of the committee. Draws special attention to the proposals as to language.
