TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Francis Galton, Fellow of the Royal Society, Chairman of the Kew Observatory Committee
Date12 December 1898
DescriptionIs directed to forward the following items: a copy of the reply of the Royal Society to the letter from the Treasury containing the offer of the Government to establish a National Physical Laboratory; a copy of the reply of the Treasury thereto; a copy of a scheme for the management of the proposed laboratory which is under the consideration of the Committee appointed by the Council to carry on the negotiations with the Treasury [no enclosures].

The Committee will be glad if the Kew Observatory Committee will favour them with any remarks or criticisms on this scheme. The Government are very anxious to get the matter settled, as though the funds promised by them cannot be voted till next August, it is desirable that all preparations should be made at an early date.
