DescriptionRelates to a Deputation of those interested in Science and Industry who waited upon the Marquis of Salisbury in 1897 in order to urge upon the Government the desirability of establishing a National physical Laboratory. A Committee, of which Lord Rayleigh was Chairman, was afterwards appointed by Her Majesty's Treasury to take eveidence and report upon the subject. A copy of their report is enclosed [not enclosed].

Also related to the giving of a sum of money towards the extension of the Kew Observatory.
