The Ship Sub-Committee was appointed by the general Antarctic Committee to consider all questions relating to the construction of the ship or ships to be used for the expeditions with power to invite tenders if it thinks fit, reporting to the joint Committee from time to time.

Lists the members of the Sub-Committee: President of the Royal Society [Joseph Lister] and Royal Geographical Society [Markham], Admiral Sir L McClintock, Admiral Aldrich, Captain Creak, Captain Field, Admiral Sir Vesey Hamilton, Admiral Sir J Hoskins, Admiral Markham, Sir J Murray, and Admiral Sir G S Nares.
