TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to John Murray
Date31 January 1888
DescriptionThe committee have not received the supplementary report that they asked Murray to make. Meanwhile, the Treasury have ruled out obtaining funds beyond the original estimate, and believe that it will be necessary to make a selection from the manuscript and not retain paid staff after 30 September. Rix notes that the committee have therefore asked Murray to prepare a scheme which will enable costs to be kept within the original estimate while making the least difference to the value of the [Challenger] report, and to present that scheme at the next committee meeting.
