TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Michael Foster [Royal Society]
Date2 March 1888
DescriptionNotes that when he told Foster that ten papers are in hand he was including this week's papers, without which there are only seven. Taking four papers instead of three, would mean the inclusion of a paper by Dr G Herley on pearls. However, Herley particularly wants to use the electric lamp and demonstrate on screen, and as this will not be ready until Thursday week, Rix will not yet advertise Herley's paper.

Rix relates that the electric lamp has taken a long time to build, but that Drake & Graham state that they are dependent on people who have a monopoly and therefore will not be hurried. It is almost ready though and is very likely to arrive next week.
