| Description | Discusses W K Parker's paper, thirty eight pages foolscap in length, for which Rix requested an abstract, assuming it to be intended for 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. The paper was in fact intended for 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' but Parker has sent a six page abstract, should it be considered too lengthy, and Rix, noting Parker's apparent indifference to which Royal Society publication it is published in, asks for Foster to let him know which option to pursue.
Also discusses the figures Joseph Norman Lockyer has been sending in to Collings. It had been said that it is impossible to estimate the cost due to the revisions after they have been drawn and also after they are cut, and so Rix fears that this will be an expensive paper. He notes for instance, one of the cuts is to be printed on folding plate-paper, but he assumes the importance of the paper's subject matter gives Lockyer 'carte blanche', and asks Foster to let him know if this is not the case. Also discusses the relative convenience of the timing of the Soirée Sub-Committee meeting for Mr Preece, Dr Hugo Muller, and Lockyer. |
