Description | In response to their letter of 10 July, Rix lets them know that he has decided that the most convenient system of supports for the mace to be a hook from the top and a bracket from the side. Rix sketches an illustration of the proposed set-up, and notes that providing it does not cost too much, the hook should be made to screw and unscrew, and the bracket able to slip in and out of a holder fixed to the back of the safe. The curved part of the bracket should be covered with leather or plush. Work should be finished by the end of the month.
The Royal Society Treasurer, John Evans, has responded to their remarks on the safe's strength to state that he does not think it necessary to have a new one yet. |
