TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Thomas Gibson, 1 Eglinton Crescent, Edinburgh
Date17 July 1888
DescriptionRix has read Gibson's paper on fire-proof towns with interest, but is obliged to return it as it has not been 'communicated' by a Royal Society Fellow, and so it cannot be read to the Society. It seems unlikely that Gibson will be able to get the paper endorsed as it outside the scope of the Society's work. It may be suitable for a body such as the Society of Arts which deals with the practical arts rather than pure science.
