TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor James Emerson Reynolds, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date9 October 1888
DescriptionReynold has sent the Royal Society three manuscripts, one of which is for publication in 'Proceedings of the Royal Society'.

Rix encloses the other two [not included], with some words of explanation at the request of Lord Rayleigh. Firstly, reports to the Government Grant Committee are printed but not published, and are usually very brief statements with an account and vouchers, therefore Reynold's report is far too long, but he may want to publish it a journal or in 'Proceedings'. The 'abstract' is again slightly too long, and although it may do for the committee, Rayleigh has asked Rix to explain the nature of the Society's reports, to allow Reynold to judge whether to submit it for printing or write another one for this purpose, and retain the original for 'Proceedings'.
