TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster [Royal Society]
Date3 January 1888
DescriptionAsks if Foster wishes to carry out his suggestion that 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' should be a twice yearly volume. Rix notes the last volume as from January to June 1887 amounted to 522 pages, and the next volume, from July to December, looked to amount to 300 or fewer pages. Rix outlines the objections to this plan as based on the bookselling trade pricing the 'Proceedings' at a guinea a volume, and the complications of either selling the volumes at the miscellaneous prices to reflect the differing lengths, or charging a guinea regardless of the volume's length.
