TitleCopy letter from George Gabriel Stokes, to Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, Member of Parliament
Date1 November 1888
DescriptionResponse to Beach's letter of 27 September, reference H 5945, regarding the matter which emerged from reports of a Committee of the Corporation of Trinity House on 'Lighthouse Illuminants' and the enquiry concerning whether the Royal Society would be ready to nominate members to a Committee with Stokes to establish whether the Trinity House conclusions expressed in their reports are justified by the records of the experiments.

As requested in a further letter, reference H 6362, Stokes is, in consultation with the Society Council, prepared to nominate two Fellows to act with him as referees, who have already been consulted to ensure that they would be willing to participate.
