TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Drake & Gorham
Date7 November 1888
DescriptionResponse to their letter of 6 November regarding an extension of time available for running the engine. Rix has consulted with the housekeeper, and summarises their conclusions as being that the engine may be run everyday until 9pm, except for Saturday, with the added condition that running may not begin before 6.30pm on Saturdays. They could let the engine run after 1pm on Saturdays, but would prefer not to.

The principal difficulty is that the running of the engine restricts use of the basement passage, but if a way could be found of railing off the engine which allows both free movement to the engineer and sufficient passage outside the rails, their scheduling difficulties would be resolved.
