TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor George Downing Liveing, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date20 December 1888
DescriptionIn response to Liveing's note of yesterday, they have sent neither proof nor manuscript as the tables are not yet completed. Rix notes that the printer's instructions were so numerous, and on every page, that following them would have damaged the uniformity of that volume of 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', and given that paper an unusual appearance. As a consequence, they followed their standing rule and used their usual type. Lord Rayleigh has now asked that Liveing indicate on the proof which of the indications for exceptional type are of scientific importance, and these will be corrected.
