TitleCopy letter from [Herbert Rix], to Professor George Gabriel Stokes, President of the Royal Society
Date21 January 1889
DescriptionRix notes the enclosure of two letters from the Treasury, the contents of which he has also summarised for Michael Foster [not included].

He also sends an update on the paper by Sir Richard Owen, with the Committee of Papers having decided not to publish the paper until the fossil has been inspected by the referees, with the resolutions passed being that referees be invited to confer, and that Dr E P Ramsay be contacted for a loan of the specimen. The proof Owen refers to was only set up for use in the meeting, and Rix had to explain to Owen that this was why it came without the plates. It was set into type for convenience of reading, but the plates will not be begun until the paper has been through the referees.
