TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor William Abbott Herdman, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date12 February 1900
DescriptionConcerning the paper by Professor Gregory which was before Committee the other day, Harrison does not now remember whether or not he specifically called Herdman's attention in the meeting to the fact that a plate of the illustrations to the paper had already been drawn by the lithographer. Explains the circumstances of why this occurred. The plate was made up in the form for '[Philosophical] Transactions [of the Royal Society]' and Sir Michael Foster has asked Harrison to ascertain whether this would lead Herdman to advise Council to publish the paper in the 'Transactions' after all. On the other hand if Herdman thinks the Committee's recommendation for 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' should be strictly adhered to, Harrison thinks there will be no difficulty in folding the plate, which is enclosed [not enclosed].
