DescriptionWith reference to the Under Secretarty's letter of the 26 June , Harrison is directed by the President and Council to make a further request of Her Majesty's Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, that he cause the sincere thanks of the Royal Society to be conveyed through the proper channel to the French Government for the valuable assistance afforded to the expedition to Algiers to observe the recent total solar eclipse. They would be glad is special thanks could be conveyed to M Tripied [Trepied], Director of the Algiers Observatory and M Michael Alvado of Mazapan, pree da Zeralda, Algiers.
