TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Messrs Robarts, Lubbock & Company, 15 Lombard Street, E.C.
Date4 November 1901
DescriptionHas just received the Messrs note enclosing the power of attorney executed at the last Council meeting and is surprised that the Bank of England have refused it on the ground of the witnessing being irregular.

Thinks the officer of the bank is under a misapprehension. With regard to the strict conditions imposed by Statue upon the affixing of the Seal of the Society, Harrison thinks it would be desirable to ascertain whether any form of power of attorney not requiring the same attestation as the enclosed form [not enclosed] can be issued in the case of the Royal Society, to the satisfaction of the Bank of England. Returns the power of attorney and suggests the Messrs show this letter to the authorities of the Bank of England, and trusts they will then accept the power as already executed.
