TitleCopy letter from [Sir Michael Foster], to Secretary to His Majesty's Treasury, Whitehall, S.W.
Date18 November 1901
DescriptionIn reply to the Secretary's letter, 16981/01 of 24 October, the 'Challenger' Committee has carefully considered the request that the Lords should present a set of 'Challenger' reports to the Horniman library. The Committee thinks the library is not of such a character as to justify the presentation of a complete set of the reports, but on the understanding that the London County Council desire to develop the Horniman as a means of scientific instruction in natural history and anthropology for the south of London, the Committee is prepared to recommend the Lords present copies of category C; volumes and parts, the stock of which exceeds 100.
