DescriptionEncloses a copy of a letter received from Sir E Maunde Thompson relating to the formation of a British Academy for the promotion of Historical, Philosophical and Philological Studies, together with a copy of the reply which Sir Michael Foster has sent to Sir E Maunde Thompson. States the statutes of the International Association regarding the admission of other Academies. Notwithstanding the fact that the Academie des Sciences will soon cease to be the Directing Academy, Sir M Foster thinks it desirable that Darboux be at once placed in possession of the circumstances concerning the British Academy.
