Title | Copy letter from Joseph Larmor, to George Walker Walker, [Fellow of the Royal Society] |
Date | 27 December 1901 |
Description | The Standing Order which guides a decision relative to the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' is that the memoir must appear to mark a distinct step in the advancement of natural knowledge.
Understands that Walker has already had an excerpt from the criticisms in the referee's reports. The suggestion of the Committee, that an extended abstract could be published in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' was, Harrison believes, arrived at under the impression that by leaving out algebraic analysis, a good statement of the work of Walker's paper could be put into 12 pages, whilst the memoir itself would be accessible at the Society. |
