| Description | Quotes a minute signed by the members of the Mathematics Committee regarding Mr Jeans' paper, 'The Stability of a Spherical Nebula', in October 1901. The minute states that Jeans be requested to take into consideration the criticisms of one of the referees, Professor Love, and that when the paper is returned, it be again referred to Love and that if he is satisfied it will be printed in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'.
The paper has been returned together with a corrected and amended version. The author states that he has had to make more extensive alterations than he thinks were anticipated by the referee, for reasons that will become clear on examining the corrected manuscript. Proposes sending the two manuscripts to Professor Love in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee, but before doing so would be glad to know if Elliott has anything to say on the matter. |
