TitleCopy letter from Sir Michael Foster to, Dr Aldo Castellani
Date22 January 1903
DescriptionDue to the gravity and difficulties of the Sleeping Sickness inquiry, the Royal Society have appointed Colonel David Bruce to take over the investigation. Dr Nabarro will support him, and Castellani will of course follow Bruce's instructions. This replaces all previous instructions of the Committee. The Committee regrets that Castellani is disheartened by the decision not to publish his preliminary note. This was for his sake rather than their own. As to loss of priority, the Royal Society can prove the date at which his communication reached them, which is very important.
