Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Superintendent of African Protoctorates |
Date | 20 July 1903 |
Description | The Committee of the Royal Society investigating Sleeping Sickness in Uganda have received from Dr Christy, one of the members of the first commission sent out to investigate the disease, a request for their support to a claim he desires to make for recoupment of expenses incurred whilst living in Uganda, and in respect of the expenses of travelling home via the Nile.
The Committee carefully considered the arguments in support of Christy's appeal and think that his claim for an increased rate of allowance is reasonable. Regarding the claim for travel expenses by the Nile, the Committee has received a statement from Christy explaining this, after he received instructions to return home by the short route. Christy's explanation has been accepted and therefore forwarded for the favourable consideration of His Majesty's Secretary of State. |
