TitleCopy letter from Theodore E James, to Major Leonard Darwin, Cripp's Corner, Forest Row
Date14 September 1903
DescriptionWith reference to Darwin's letter of 11 September, Harrison had already asked the Admiralty at Sir M Foster's request to mention the latest date for posting to Captain [Robert Falcon] Scott. In reply the last date when a letter should reach Hobart, was given as 30 November, but no answer was made as regards the latest date for posting. James consulted the post authorities at Burlington House who gave him the date of 26 September and this would be the safe date to ensure delivery. The Burlington House authorities knew nothing of 23 October as a mail but James will verify this in the course of day or so.
