Description | Geikie notes the satisfaction with which they recieved the letter of 5 January extending Captain Greig's leave of absence to 25 May 1904 for work on the Sleeping Sickness Commission, and their pleasure with Grieg as a 'dilligent and capable observer', particularly following Dr Nabarro's departure. However, since there is a lot still to be done, it is unlikely that, even with the assistance of Dr Gray who is immediately leaving for Uganda, that the enquiry will have been completed by 25 May. Dr Greig is willing to remain in Uganda to see the work through to completion, and so the Royal Society ask if the Government of India might lend their assistance by further extending Greig's absence from his duties in India.
Geikie highlights that the enquiry is likely to assist in the study of analogous diseases such as Surra, which are well known in India. |
