DescriptionKempe acknowledges receipt of the letter of 30 March, received during the Easter vacation. He promises to communicate it to the President and Council of the Royal Society at their next meeting, and meanwhile ask that they pass on the Society's thanks to the Ceylon Government for taking on the cost of completing Professor William Abbott Herdman's report on the Ceylon Pearl Fishery.

Care will be taken to ensure the third and fourth parts of the report are within the £500 limit voted by the Ceylon Government, to whom the proceeds of the sale of the report will be given. 100 copies of the the unpublished parts of the report will be forwarded to the Crown Agents for the Colonies as requested.
