At a meeting of the Tropical Diseases Committee, Mr Read of the Colonial Office, suggested the best way of settling the matter of a Royal Society delegate would be to meet one of the War Office authorities. Geikie suggests Bruce as the Army representative, and asks whether the Army Council are likely to want additional representation on the Committee. He further asks if Bruce could advise whether a formal interview is needed, or whether the Secretary of the Royal Society should simply write to the War Office to suggest Bruce as the Army representative on the Committee of Enquiry. Geikie would like the matter in progress prior to the Royal Society's Council meeting on 19 May, which will allow the enquiry to begin sooner. |
