TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date10 June 1904
DescriptionHarrison communicates that C Christy is persisting in his insistence on the term 'infective areas', pointing out that there is now a discrepancy between the wording on the map, which they altered to 'infected areas' and the main text. He has explained to Christy that any correction would have to be made by an erratum slip, but asks Lankester whether this should correct the word on the map or in the text, and conveys his assumption from Lankester's note that 'infective' is wrong and should be corrected.

Harrison also asks whether he may inform Christy of Lankester's view, as a person of scientific authority, that the word infective is 'meaningless'. He remembers that Lankester made the original change as Chairman, but believes that the Committee also agreed with his opinion on the word 'infective' as used in the report.
