TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr William Napier Shaw, Fellow of the Royal Society, Secretary, Meteorological Council
Date30 September 1904
DescriptionAs the National Antarctic Expedition has now returned, it is time to report formally to the Meteorological Council the following conclusions of a Committee of the Royal Society drawn up by them in conference with Shaw, and adopted by the Council:

1. Tabulation and reduction of the Meteorological Observations, could be completed for £500.

2. The recommend International co-operation, which might extend to publishing daily synoptic charts, but it is not desirable that the main share in the reduction and publication of the observations, mostly British, should be delegated to another nation.

3. The Meteorological Council should be invited to undertake the reduction on these terms.

The Royal Geographical Society has made itself responsible for expenses up to £500, which sees the cost of reduction of the Observations as estimated by the Meteorological Council, in case the funds belonging to the Expedition prove insufficient, the conditions under which Shaw's Council consented to undertake the reduction of the Observations are now fulfilled.

Reminds him of the names of members of the Committee of the Royal Society appointed to co-operate with the Meteorological Council.
