TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Under Secretary of State for the Colonies
Date22 November 1904
DescriptionRegarding previous correspondence on the matter of scientific equipment for the investigation into Mediterranean Fever, calls their attention to an account which has been sent in by Messrs Baird & Tatlock for two microscopes and an Incubator. They were ordered by Dr Zammit of the Public Health Department, Malta, and their purchase was made on the understanding they would form part of the permanent equipment of the Public Health Laboratory, and the cost would be borne out of Local Government Funds. Colonel David Bruce believes, therefore, that they cannot be charged to the Royal Society's equipment fund. It seems the authority of the Secretary of State is required before the charge can be made upon the Malta Funds.
