Description | Rix could not send the printed card directly to their American correspondent as it is printed on English card. He suggests that their printers, Harrison & Sons, would send them the weekly card on payment of the postage, provided both 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' and 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' are ordered from their house.
Rix also responds to their correspondent's other questions, describing 'Proceedings' as an octavo publication issued roughly once a month at differing prices according to size, and 'Transactions' as a quarto publication, with the separate papers from it varying in price. A list of papers and prices are available from Trübner's. Papers from 'Proceedings' are not sold separately, and Rix further notes that many papers read before the Society are only published in abstract. Rix also provides prices for the particular papers mentioned by the correspondent.
A postscript reads 'Mr Worth's letter returned herewith'. |
