Description | In response to their letter of 29 March, Rix states that insurance against loss or incorrect delivery is exactly what they want. The manuscript has no market value, but the loss would be irreparable, so the insurance is to ensure proper care is taken for a safe delivery. Insurance against sea risk would only guard against loss by wreck or fire, and so be of no use.
They will send the manuscript packed in a case, to be transmitted to the Smithsonian Institute in next Thursday's despatch. |
