Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Edward Hull, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 5 April 1889 |
Description | Hull's letter of 29 March was laid before the Officers of the Royal Society, but they agree with Rix that the arrangement proposed would be impossible. The Government Grant and the Soirée together would be too great a strain on the staff. Furthermore, three days before a Soirée the building is filled with tradespeople, including carpenters, electric lighters, gas fitters and florists, so a large committee on those days would not be possible. |
