TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs C J Clay & Sons
Date13 April 1889
DescriptionRix is sending by rail 25 blocks from Professor Cayley's memoir on 'Caustics' from 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society', volume 147, page 273, which is contrary to the Royal Society's normal custom, but Michael Foster instructed him to do so. The blocks must not be used to print from, but only to take electrotypes.

The loan should not be regarded as a precedent, though they can by permission of the Council furnish clichés at a small charge. The single cut illustrating the memoir on 'Curves of the Third Order' is not in the Society's possession, and was likely to have been borrowed by the Society themselves.
