Description | In response to Hibbert's note, Rix states that they can certainly engage a commissioner to send for his exhibit, reporting that the clerk who manages the Soirée in the absence of other staff was simply acting in accordance with the usual custom of exhibitors sending and receiving their own exhibits. There is, however, no difficulty in making exceptions where the usual practice is inconvenient.
Rix states that they had thought the instruments may have been delivered carriage unpaid, but understands that he wished to avoid trusting them to the 'tender mercies of railway carrier'. Rix regrets the small error in the judgement of his clerk. |
