Description | In response to their letter of yesterday to Mr A H White, Rix is sorry to hear that they do not have the necessary influence with the publishers to induce them to refund numbers ordered in error, but states that most of the Royal Society's agents have no such difficulty. With regard to their assertion that sending an invoice with each number of a periodical is not the practice of booksellers, Rix remarks that this does not correspond with their experience, with most other agents and indeed the former agents for the journals in question always doing so. He would be thankful if they invoice each parcel as they offer.
A postscript records that since writing the letter Rix has sent round to Messrs Churchill, and he encloses their reply [not included]. In applying for number 118, Rix asks that they return 117 as suggested. |
