TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Edward Albert Schafer, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date25 July 1889
DescriptionRix has yet to succeed in finding a satisfactory process for Schafer's illustrations. He encloses a letter and specimens form the Autotype Company, but notes that the best of these appear to be from direct negatives of the subjects. Rix has made extensive enquiries but can only suggest two others, namely the Woodburytype which is expensive and not necessarily more satisfactory, and the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company.

If Schafer disapproves of the Autotype Company, Rix believes he should send the originals to Dr Michael Foster and see what can be done at Cambridge. Rix asks for the letter to be returned with his answer.
