TitleCopy letter from Alfred H White, to John Joly
Date11 September 1889
DescriptionWhite notes that John William Strutt, Lord Rayleigh, has seen the photographs accompanying his paper on the 'spark discharge' and the letter about their reproduction for 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', and notes that he has outlined some difficulties with the kind of reproduction requested. As a consequence, he has asked White to request further particulars, in particular concerning the Aristotype process, with an indication of the probable cost and an address to write to do.

White further asks what amount of reduction would be allowable. He is also unsure as to whether some photographs are mentioned in the text. With regard to the pencil drawings, they would prefer woodcuts as a lithograph would require a plate outside the text. White also proposes that the small diagrams of the graduation of spark tracts and the path of the incandescent particles at the Poles could be cut white on black. Finally, White asks if the given plates numbers are final, or will be altered.
